Daniel Megahey: A Life Well-Lived, A Legacy Never Forgotten
Main Content: “Daniel Megahey was more than just a talented football player; he was a son, a friend, and a passionate advocate for cancer awareness. Born and raised in Galway, Daniel grew up with a love for sports, especially soccer. He played for both Knocknacarra FC and Salthill Devon and was a dedicated Liverpool FC supporter.
In April 2020, at just 19 years old, Daniel was diagnosed with a brain tumor. Despite the diagnosis, he showed incredible resilience and continued to live his life to the fullest. One of his greatest achievements during this time was completing a marathon in Galway with two of his closest friends, Ross and Rory Elwood, raising over $60,000 for The Brain Tumor Foundation.
Daniel spent his final months in the care of The Galway Hospice, where he and his family received outstanding care and support. In honor of his memory, his friends and family have organized the Daniel Megahey 5-A-Side Memorial Cup, an event that celebrates his life and raises funds for the causes closest to his heart.”
