At the heart of the Daniel Megahey 5-A-Side Memorial Cup are two important causes that Daniel was deeply connected to during his life and courageous battle with cancer.
1. The Galway Hospice
The Galway Hospice provided exceptional care to Daniel in the final months of his life, offering comfort and support to him, his family, and friends. Specializing in palliative care, their mission is to improve the quality of life for those facing life-limiting illnesses. Funds raised help ensure the hospice can continue offering its compassionate services to more families in need.
2. The Brain Tumor Foundation
After his diagnosis, Daniel was committed to raising funds for The Brain Tumor Foundation (BTF), a U.S.-based charity that supports patients and families dealing with brain tumors. The foundation promotes early detection through their “Road to Early Detection” campaign, provides patient support, and conducts vital cancer research. Donations contribute to their life-saving initiatives and help others facing similar battles.
